Real Racing 3, Cars which are hard to drive.

Hello Friends in Real Racing 3 World!

It has been a while after my last post on RR3.
I would like to post a brief analysis on Cars which are hard to drive.

My view of 'hard to drive' comes from 2 points.

1. Tends to slides at corner exit when step on acceleration. (or tail happy)
This is due to high acceleration without enough tire grip.
The below table shows top 15 cars in this category.
Please be noted that PR Rank is not related.
One option is to upgrade suspension and tyre first.

2. The car itself is too fast and hard to break before a corner.
I usually set a normal breaking points at corners.
If a car is faster but with lower breaking performance than those of the normal car,
it should be break earlier than usual breaking points.
Problem is that it is hard to memorize all breaking points per car and track.
The following table shows top 15 cars in this category.
Naturally, Higher PR Rank leads to Too fast cars to drive.
Upgrade direction can be "break first".

Real Racing 3 Car Comparison Table #2 : Class P High-end

Table #2 is Class P High-end. Ford Shelby GT500 is the most famous and everybody's favorite with low price and high & balanced performance. You can clearly see that BMW M3 GTS is not better than GT500 although it cost huge! (Not so may of RR3 players are like it.)

There no car with strong grip but there are cars with strong engine, such as Corvette ZR1 and Camaro ZL1. Actually, these two cars are Class S but they compete with Class P cars in the event.

Here again, Gold upgrade is not so important. So, do not waste your precious Gold on upgrades.

Real Racing 3 Car Comparison Table #1 : Class P Low-end

Accuram's Pensieve in English: Real Racing 3 Car Comparison Table #0 : Background...: At Firemonkeys RR3 forum, there was a question about how the car is enhanced by upgrade. For there are so many combinations from Engine to T...

Table #1 is Class P : Low-end
There are 7 cars categorized by "-P", "-R", and "-G", which means Pure, R$ upgraded, and Gold+R$ upgraded, respectively.

Gold upgrade for these cars cost huge but less effect, so it is not recommended.

If you prefer better grip, Z4 sDrive35is, 1 Serise M Coupe is your choice.
Audi TT Rs Coupe is in the other side with shear acceleration in the class.
The others are balanced, so to speak.

Real Racing 3 Car Comparison Table #0 : Background and How to make and read the chart

At Firemonkeys RR3 forum, there was a question about how the car is enhanced by upgrade. For there are so many combinations from Engine to Tire, it is simplified as 3 stages, such as Purchase(pure),  R$ upgrade, and Gold+R$ Upgrade.

It is required to choose among 3-4 cars in each event. Generally, the right most car is the best and there can be 1 or 2 more cars which worth buy and investment. Again, to simplify the chart, only 2 cars/event from the right are analyzed.

And also, to optimize the chart, events are grouped into 5 zones as below.
  • Class P : Low-end
    • Pure Stock Challenge
    • Road Car International
    • Global Production Pursuit
    • Prime Production Match UP
    • Street-Spec Skirmish
    • 6 Cyl Annihilation Series
  • Class P : High-end (with some low-end Class S cars)
    • Performance Rumble
    • Everyday Heroes
    • V8 Muscle Hustle
    • Coupe Clash
    • Deutsch Duell RWD
    • Open Revolution
  • Class R : Racing Version
    • V10 Grand Open
    • GT3 World Series
    • GT1 Grand Tour
    • Global GT Clash
    • East/West Showdown
    • Accolade Open
  • Class S : Low-end
    • Supercar Masters Series
    • Moddern Sports Classics
    • Pro/AM Supercar Club
    • V10 Showdown Series
    • V8 Performance Grawl
  • Class S : High-End
    • High-Rev Rush
    • Vanguard Challenge
    • 12+ Cyl Slam
    • Supercar Elites
    • Zenith Series
    • Speed Daemon

A car has 4 factors in Real Racing 3, which are Max. Speed, Acceleration Time, Break Distance, and Tire Grip Force. They need to be normalized to be drawer in one chart. and also 2-D chart can display only 2 factors, so the factors need to be grouped.

1. Normalization

1.1 convert to the time value
       - Max speed -> time to race 1 km
       - Acc. time -> time to accelerate from 0 to 100 kph
       - Break distance -> time to decelerate stop from 100 to 0 kph
       - Tire Grip -> time to race 1 km of arc with 100m radius (usually 2x~3x of straight case)
  1.2 normalize by median
       - For each Zone, every factors are normalized by 'Median / Value'
       - It is because the values are 'time' and the smaller the better.

2. Grouping
If you read my previous analysis, it has the same logic.
2.1 X axis : average of normalized max speed and acc. time. A point at right side means the car is easy to overtake others at straight.
2.2 Y axis : average of normalized break distance and tire grip.  A point at upper side means the car can maintain speed at corners.

Now, it is time to enjoy the chart via following blog posts.

Real Racing 3 : The meaning of winning TSM friends

I fall in love with Indianapolis Motor Speedway 'Speedway' during last weekend and raced again and again. Then, among 188 RR3 friends, only 5 are shown at the 'TSM friends to beat' area.

But, when I entered the event, there were still full of TSM friends with yellow character.

After I got Silver, only 1 TSM friend is left as 'TSM competitor'

Finally, when I won him, there is no TSM competitors for the event. Wow!

But Soon, They got the message and raced against me and won! Now I should race again against the 3 active and faster friends!

Probably I need a lot races to master all opened Indy Speedway with all Class P, R, and S cars. After I am done with Indy Speedway, my next targets are 1)Melbourne and 2)Mt. Panorama. I cannot wait for the next weekend!

2D charts of Real Racing 3 Cars, categorized by Zones (groups of events)

After I made a 2-D chart of all cars, I felt it was too crowded. I divided them by Class but some class S cars compete with Class P cars such as Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 is Class S but competes with Ford Shelby GT500 which is Class P.

So, I tried another approach. At First, I categorized each event into 3 Zones.

Zone #1 : Usually for Class P cars except some low-end Class S cars (Corvette ZR1, Viper SRT10 Coupe, Camaro ZL1)

  1. Pure Stock Challenge
  2. Road Car International
  3. Global Production Pursuit
  4. V8 Muscle Hustle
  5. Coupe Clash
  6. Street-Spec Skirmish
  7. Prime Production Match UP
  8. 6 Cyl Annihilation Series
  9. Performance Rumble
  10. RWD Open Revolution
  11. Everyday Heroes

Zone #2 : A play ground for Class R cars including some Class S cars under 1M R$.

  1. Moddern Sports Classics
  2. Deutsch Duell
  3. Supercar Masters Series
  4. Pro/AM Supercar Club
  5. V10 Grand Open
  6. V10 Showdown Series
  7. GT3 World Series
  8. GT1 Grand Tour
  9. V8 Performance Grawl
  10. East/West Showdown
  11. Accolade Open
  12. Global GT Clash

Zone #3 : for super Class S Cars worth over 1M R$, from 8. McLaren F1. Some cheaper cars are included but cannot compete, actually.

  1. High-Rev Rush
  2. Vanguard Challenge
  3. 12+ Cyl Slam
  4. Supercar Elites
  5. Zenith Series
  6. Speed Daemon

The thing is that some cars can be in multiple Zones. The important thing is to know characteristics of each events so this will not be mattered.

I would like to start from Zone#1.

The value is normalized by median value. Max speed and tire grip is divided by the median value. For acceleration time and breaking distance, median value is divided by the each values. Also, X-axis is an average of max speed and acceleration time, which means faster at straight track. Y-axis is an average of break distance and tire grip. If a car has y-axis is higher than others, that car will easily overtake at the start and after corner exits. Finally, the size of bubble is the initial purchase price excluding any upgrade cost. If a small bubble is near a large one, that car is cost effective. Also, the number on the bubble means the rank of price.

Now it is time to read the chart. A median level car will be positioned (1,1) such as 7. BMW M3 coupe. Zone#1 cars are wide spread across X-axis but narrow in Y-axis. This means cornering will be similar and that speed matters a lot. The fastest car is 1. Corvette ZR1, followed by 5.Dodge Viper SRT10 Coupe. BMW tends to be balanced or conferring focused . Audi and Chevrolet are good at straight. Personally, Ford Shelby GT500 is my favorite for its performance and low price. The second is Audi TT RS Coupe with shear acceleration. It is a drag race machine. I do not recommend 4.BMW M3 GTS, though. It is too expensive in compare to 8.GT500 and its low grip makes driving hard.
Zone#2 cars are crowded. It is clear that they are widely positioned in cornering performance. Probably, the king is 3. BMW M3 GT2 ALMS with the strongest grip. It is like saying 'I don't break at corners!' The next options can be two Audi's (10, 16). Both cars are focused on cornering. There are some cost effective cars such as Nissan GT-R Premium but too low cornering performance will make you hard to win a race. It may be used for drag race, though.

Zone#3 cars are super cars and are widely positioned across the chart. I am not skilled yet to drive this machines so not much to say.

Please have a look around and pick your own taste. Maybe after some time after I gather all upgraded spec. I will post the similar chart with them.

My 'Real Racing 3' Cars in purchased order with R$ upgrade

I would like to share my 'Real Racing 3' Cars. It is listed by purchased order. The spec. is the maximum level without investing Gold, and I am sure this level is sufficient most of the tracks to win.

1. Dodge Challenger R/T : average car without character.

2. BMW 1 Series M Coupe : well balanced and stable. the best choice if you just started the game.

 3. Porsche 911 GT3 RS : the best car in Class P. Especially short breaking distance and high grip make you break later than competitors and maintain higher speed through corners, without traction control kicks in.

4. BMW Z4 M Coupe : So-So

5. Ford Shelby GT500 : Cheaper than BMW M3 GTS but you can win against. Well balanced with strong grip.

6. Audi TT RS Coupe : Acceleration King at the class. My choice for drag race. And also good at overtake right after green light.

7. Nissan Skyline GT-R V-Spec (R34) : for showcase only. Right-sided driving is not famaliar.

8. Nissan 350Z : not so much impression

9. BMW Z4 sDrive35IS : Usually good at tracks with long straight track such as Mt. Panorama.

10. Nissan 370Z : Relatively good but reluctant to drive... I should paint this car in Yellow!

11. BMW M3 Coupe : Well...

12. BMW M3 GTS : I regret I upgraded this car! Well, there are good TSM driver with this car but due to relatively low tire grip, cornering is just a stress. And it is too expensive!

13. Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 : Class S but competing usually with Class P cars. Similar to Audi TT RS Coupe, It has relative strong acceleration and not less max. speed and grip.

14. Dodge Viper SRT10 Coupe : focused on max. speed. the other side is long break distance and small tire grip lead to slow at corners. my choice at Speedway. If this is your opponent, try overtake at corners. it is easy, especially with Porsche 911 GTS RS 4.0.

15. Porsche 911 GTS RS 4.0 : Class S but competing with Class P cars usually and it is GOOD!

I have other cars without upgrade. They failed to get attention or proven to be a loser. Also, I have some Class R and Class S cars but their performance is too much for me at native status. I am afraid to upgrade it.

Real Racing 3 - Full Upgrade Stat. with R$ only (without Gold Upgrade)

Updated Date : Sep. 21, 2013

Hello Friends in Real Racing 3.
As the table is growing bigger with new cars, I opened Google Spread Sheet with the following Link.
For any spec. you want, please visit the document. It is for free.

Link to Google Doc : Real Racing 3 : Spec. of All Cars including upgrade

Also, thanks to the reward bug (or jackpot) at Time Trial Races,
I could get enough R$ to upgrade all cars I have.
Unfortunately, I cannot afford IAP of GC. So, GC car purchase and GC upgrade is limited.
In the end, the following data is missing, yet.
If you have any information, Please write a reply.

1. fully upgraded spec. without Gold spent.
2. fully upgraded spec. with Gold spent.
* initial spec. is not required. :)

Mysterious Car at RWD Open Revolution, Real Racing 3

There are three cars at the event but a mysterious car appeared shortly and disappeared soon. I was lucky to capture one.

Also this covered car was shown at other event as well.

Comparison of All Real Racing 3 Cars without upgrades

I made a comparison chart categorized by Class P, S, and R. But after some progress in the game, there are events that Class P and Class S cars competes. For example, Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 is class S but competes with Ford Shelby GT500 of class P. So, I just put all cars into one 2D chart.

<Chart configuration>

  • X,Y Value : normalized by median.
    • Speed, Grip : divided by median
    • Acceleration time, Break distance : median is divided by each number.
  • X-Axis : average of speed and acceleration time
    • better at outrun on straight tracks
  • Y-Axis : average of break distance and tire grip
    • better at keep speed at corners and not go slower than others.
  • Bubble size : the initial price of each car.
    • Gold cars are changed to R$ with real US$ currency.
  • Numbers on bubbles : Rank of average of X and Y value.

<How to Read this chart>
  • Generally, upper & right cars are better.
  • Imagine center line from No. 1 to No. 48. The cars on the line is balanced.
  • Cars at upper left side of the virtual line has strong break and firm tire grip. This means your cornering speed can be higher than competitors. So, your overtake position will be corners.
  • Cars at  lower right side of the virtual line has higher max. speed and strong acceleration. Both factors are good to outrun competing cars at straight track. In addition to this, strong acceleration is good for overtaking cars at start of a race.

BTW, there are Class S cars whose performance is similar to Class P Cars. They are Chevrolet Camaro ZL1, and Dodge Viper SRT10 Coupe. Contrarily, Porsche 911 GT3 RS has Class S performance although it is classified Class P.
